Where the Tide Glows

About this piece

Seen from the shoreline, the underside of a concrete pier forms a succession of narrowing frames above the surf. Orange and gold light grazes the weathered supports and pools across wet sand, contrasting with the deep blue sky and shadowed beams. The softened water lends stillness to the structure’s imposing geometry.

The story

On this October day, the horizon glows gold beneath a blue expanse. Under the pier, the sky becomes a series of narrow openings, each held between weathered columns. Water slips around their feet and spreads a thin brilliance over the sand. The eye travels outward through the repeated frames, while the tide keeps returning to shore.
