Where Stone Holds Light

About this piece
A broad valley of dense conifers recedes between steep granite walls, their pale faces alternating with deep blue shadow. Bright sunlight draws out saturated greens beneath an uninterrupted blue sky, while foreground trees frame the distant opening. The composition balances the forest’s intricate texture with the monumental stillness of stone.
The story
Late June light fills the valley, touching treetops and laying bare the long seams of granite. A tall conifer rises at the edge of the frame, its branches marking a nearer, more intimate scale. Beyond it, the forest gathers into a green expanse until individual trees disappear into distance. The eye travels toward the pale peaks, where the valley narrows and the sky remains open.
