The story

Late June light warms the sand, and the palms extend their silhouettes far beyond their roots. A pale blue tower stands among tracks and scattered seaweed, its narrow legs drawing another small pattern of shade. At the water’s edge, a few figures meet the thin white line of breaking waves. Beyond them, the mountains fade into blue haze, and the bay seems to hold the light without hurry.
