A Pause In Crimson

About this piece
A green gecko rests along the diagonal edge of a deep red leaf, facing a scarlet curl that rises through the right side of the frame. Strong backlighting makes the foliage translucent, while the softly blurred burgundy background isolates the animal’s eye and spread toes in a moment of alert stillness.
The story
On this December day, light passes through the red foliage until its thin edges glow. A gecko holds the sloping leaf with pale, widely spread toes, its green body a quiet counterpoint to the crimson around it. Ahead, a curled leaf lifts like a small crest. The space between its pointed face and that luminous curve holds the possibility of a next step.
