Seen from below, a dense bamboo grove fills the frame with golden stems, dark joint rings, and narrow green leaves. Strong sunlight illuminates the foliage as overlapping diagonals draw the eye toward openings of pale blue sky, creating a luminous sense of enclosure.

The story

Early December finds this canopy full of green, its narrow leaves holding the light. From beneath the bamboo, the eye follows one jointed stem upward until it disappears among the others. Gold brightens along the smooth surfaces, while shadow gathers at their seams. Small pieces of sky offer a way through the dense growth, and the gaze rests there.
