A long brick fort wall recedes toward a projecting corner, its repeated openings mirrored in the water below. Strong sunlight turns the masonry orange against blue water and sky, while shadowed foreground brickwork frames the view. The converging lines lend depth and order to an otherwise still coastal scene.
The story
The January day holds a clear, brilliant light. Along the wall, rows of dark openings diminish toward the sea, each finding a wavering counterpart below. Small ripples loosen the straight lines of the brickwork without breaking their rhythm. From within the shaded opening, the distant blue feels especially luminous, a quiet release beyond the weight of masonry.
