About this piece
Dark, deeply textured rocks enclose a small sandy cove beneath palms and dense coastal foliage. Golden light catches the rock ridges and warms scattered clouds, while the water appears as a soft veil around the shore. The composition balances the leafy mass at left with an open, luminous horizon at right.
The story
December begins with green palms and gold along the water's edge. The shore holds its rough contours as the surf spreads into a pale, silken sheet. Between the rocks, small stretches of sand gather the warm light. Above them, peach-colored clouds open onto blue, and the sea continues beyond the shelter of the cove.
