About this piece
Two sea turtles fill the foreground of a sandy shore, while two more rest near the water and the stone wall behind them. Direct sunlight reveals the intricate patterns of their shells and flippers, casting firm shadows across the sand. The low viewpoint brings their resting bodies into intimate focus, balancing the movement of the shallows with a sense of deep repose.
The story
On this late-November day, sunlight gathers along the curved shells and catches the sand clinging to each flipper. A small wave spreads thinly across the beach beside the resting turtles. Behind them, rounded stones repeat the dark, domed shapes of their bodies. The water keeps moving; here on the sand, there is room for stillness.
