A sea turtle rests at the water’s edge, its lowered head and broad front flipper set against fine, golden sand. Strong sunlight reveals the intricate scales and radiating shell patterns in amber and blue-black, casting a deep shadow beneath the body. The close framing gives its still presence a sculptural weight.
The story
Late November finds the shore bright with sunlight, a narrow band of water glinting behind the turtle. Its head rests against the sand, while the shell rises like a dark, polished dome. Grains gather along the flipper’s edge; light traces the seams between scales. In this small stretch between water and land, the day seems to hold its breath.
