The Green Within

Sunlight passes through broad green leaves, revealing fine textures and branching veins beneath bands of shadow. The close framing brings their curled margins into relief, balancing luminous yellow-green surfaces with deep emerald folds.

The story

I moved close enough for the leaves to fill the frame, leaving the wider place outside the photograph. What held my attention was the edge: curling, uneven, dark against the light passing through the green. I followed the veins across the surface and watched them disappear into shadow. In that small space between overlapping leaves, I found enough depth to linger, and enough light to make the familiar feel newly seen.
