The story

Late November finds the sun resting just above the water, a small bright disc beneath long bands of cloud. Gold breaks across the ripples and reaches toward the narrow beach. The palm stretches low over sand and stone before turning upward, its fronds combed to one side by the wind. Along the shore, a thin edge of foam advances beneath its curve. The sky holds its colour as the foreground settles into shadow.
