The story

Late July gathers in the gold between the clouds. Beneath the palms, turquoise chairs face the water as though there is nothing left to do but watch. Small ripples loosen the reflections of trunks and dock posts, drawing their dark lines into curves. Farther out, boats rest along the low horizon while the evening light fills the space between shore and sky.
