Three Canada geese form a loose diagonal across water alive with green and gold reflections, two seen from behind and one in profile. Sunlight outlines the layered brown feathers and white markings, while wavering reflections extend beneath the birds. The broad expanse of water lends their small gathering a spacious, unhurried calm.
The story
On this July day, the water gathers the surrounding greens into a shifting field of gold. Two geese face away, their dark necks rising above the bright surface; a third turns its profile toward the open water. Small ripples loosen their reflections into long, trembling shapes. They move through the light without breaking its quiet.
