About this piece

A narrow whitewashed stairway descends toward blue-domed churches and a peach-colored bell tower, with open sea and layered cliffs beyond. Strong sunlight reveals the rough plaster and curved rooflines, while the sweeping foreground wall guides the eye into the expansive blue. The composition balances architectural intimacy with the stillness of a distant horizon.

The story

Late July light settles hard and bright on the white walls. Dark insets mark the steps, a measured rhythm leading down between rounded surfaces. Above the roofs, a small white cross stands against the sea, and the bells hang motionless in their pale peach arches. Farther out, boats become tiny marks beneath the cliffs. The passage narrows, but the blue seems without end.
