The story

July light settles on the white curves of the buildings and the dry, rust-colored slope. On the terrace, empty chairs surround small tables beside a dark spiral set into the paving. Below, boats rest at their moorings, their pale hulls distinct against the finely rippled blue. The eye moves beyond the terrace and its pink accents into water that seems to leave everything room to breathe.
