The story

Late July light gathers on the curved walls, leaving the stair treads in narrow pools of shade. Beneath a white umbrella, chairs and a small table hold a sheltered pause above the water. Terracotta pots punctuate the terraces, while a bright spray of pink flowers breaks through the white and blue. Beyond these close, interlocking spaces, the sea stretches toward a dark ridge, giving the eye room to rest.
