Black-and-white view of a steel bridge on concrete piers stretching across rippled water beneath scattered clouds.

The Long Vanishing

MG-1740

Category: Silver Stillness

April 2015

About this piece

A steel bridge extends from the left foreground toward the horizon, its repeating braces and broad concrete piers diminishing across open water. Bright sunlight reveals weathered surfaces and scatters silver highlights over the ripples. The black-and-white composition balances the bridge’s insistent geometry with the spaciousness of sea and cloud.

The story

April light breaks into small, bright fragments across the water. Beneath the bridge, each concrete pier holds its dark waterline while ripples pass around it. The eye follows one steel brace after another, counting until the intervals become too small to separate. Beyond that vanishing point, the horizon continues without a seam.
