Where Two Lights Meet

About this piece
A slender, open-frame lighthouse stands at the meeting of an inlet and the sea, its glowing lantern aligned beneath a bright moon. Broad clouds fill the upper frame, while palms, waterfront buildings, and workboats gather along the lower edge. Gold reflections break across the blue water, lending the working shoreline a quiet radiance.
The story
Late September finds the shoreline held between blue water and softly illuminated clouds. Above the lighthouse, the moon seems to balance on the pointed roof, one light briefly answering another. Palms crowd the narrow strip of land, and warm windows mark the water's edge. Workboats rest within the inlet as a pale line of surf traces the sea beyond. Across the foreground, gold loosens into ripples.
