About this piece

Overlapping leaves fill the frame with deep green, luminous orange, and bright pink margins. Fine parallel veins remain visible in the foreground, while the softened foliage behind them turns the botanical study into a layered composition of color and curved lines.

The story

I moved closer until the leaves filled my view and the surrounding place fell away. What held me was the narrow pink line along each edge, tracing a path between the darker greens and the orange glow. I let the distant leaves soften, keeping the fine grain of the nearer surfaces in focus. Within that small patch of foliage, I found a sense of scale that had little to do with size.
