About this piece

Stone parapets and gently curved brown railings frame a gravel crossing beneath a dense green canopy. The bridge’s converging lines draw the eye toward clipped shrubs and branching trees, balancing the garden’s cultivated forms with its abundant growth.

The story

I paused at the bridge before stepping into the garden beyond. From here, the railings gathered the view inward, while the branches spread it back out across the sky. I wanted to hold both movements in the frame: the clear invitation of the path and the generous disorder of leaves. The pale gravel gave my eye somewhere to rest before returning to the many shades of green.
