Repeating arches and slender utility poles converge toward a distant horizon, drawing two parallel paths across luminous turquoise water. The bridge’s weathered surfaces contrast with the softened water and broad bands of peach, lavender, and blue-gray sky.
The story
I framed the bridge from beside the water, letting its arches diminish toward the narrow band of light on the horizon. Across from them, the utility poles traced another route into the distance, with birds resting along the wires. What held my attention was the space between those two lines: open water, almost weightless beneath the clouds. I wanted the photograph to hold that balance between the solidity of a crossing and the softness surrounding it.
