A breaking wave rises in a broad plume above an outcrop of fractured ochre rock. Clear daylight distinguishes the stone’s coarse surfaces from the fine droplets of spray, while open sea and pale blue sky balance the weight of the foreground. The composition holds the water’s brief ascent against the solidity of the shore.
The story
Late June light rests on the rocks as a wave gathers along their edge. Blue water folds into white, lifting a veil of droplets above the highest ridge. For a moment, every fissure in the stone stands clear beneath the spray. Foam spreads through the lower channels, and the sea draws back into its next movement.
