A breaking wave throws a veil of white spray between fractured coastal rocks, while turquoise water fills the channels below. Bright daylight reveals the stone’s coarse surfaces and pale mineral bands; the broad composition balances the rising spray against the weight of the rock formations.
The story
Late June light falls across the rocks, picking out ridges and seams above the wash. A wave enters the narrow opening and rises in a bright scatter of droplets. For a moment, water reaches higher than the stone beside it. Below, foam spreads through the turquoise channels, tracing every passage back toward the open sea.
