The story

I followed the jet through the viewfinder as it banked, its yellow markings briefly sharp against the blue. What held my attention was the white vapor gathering along the wings: air becoming visible for an instant, then loosening into trails. I framed the aircraft without the ground, leaving only its steep diagonal and the sky around it. In that fraction of a second, speed had a shape I could hold.
