About this piece
The Golden Gate Bridge stretches diagonally across turquoise water, its nearest red-orange tower rising against a pale blue sky. Strong sunlight defines the steelwork and casts a long shadow across the strait, while the distant San Francisco skyline and dry foreground scrub establish layers of scale and texture.
The story
Late June light gives the water a brilliant turquoise clarity. Across the Golden Gate, the bridge’s cables descend in measured curves toward the far shore, framing fragments of the city beyond. Small vehicles trace the roadway while white wakes mark separate paths below. Dry brush gathers along the foreground hillside, rough against the precision of the steel. Beneath the span, its dark shadow stretches over the rippled surface.
