Where Steel Meets Tide

About this piece
A red suspension bridge sweeps from the upper right toward a distant shoreline, its ordered cables rising above blue-green water. Sunlight warms the broken concrete, rusted pipe, and yellow flowers in the foreground, while two gulls stand at the water’s edge. The expansive composition holds monumental engineering and weathered shoreline debris in quiet tension.
The story
Late June light catches the rough edges of concrete and scatters across the water. Two gulls occupy a tilted slab, close to the thin wash of foam. Above them, the bridge draws its long curve through blue sky and banks of cloud. Yellow flowers reach across the graffiti, their fine stems offering a softer geometry. The water keeps moving between these things that stand still.
