The story

On this August day, the sky glows amber above the pier, and each approaching wave carries a fragment of its light. Small figures stand along the railing, with fishing rods angled into the bright air. Water gathers around the dark supports, then breaks into foam nearer the sand. Along the shore, strands of seaweed rest where the wash leaves them, while gold fills the wet spaces between.
