About this piece
Lime-green umbrellas rise above brightly painted tables and stools on an empty waterfront terrace, with turquoise water and low, palm-lined islands beyond. Strong sunlight emphasizes the wood grain and saturated color, while the railing divides the lively foreground from the open horizon. A cluster of directional signs adds a playful counterpoint to the measured repetition of posts and stools.
The story
On this November day, the terrace holds the brightness of a lingering summer. Pink, coral, and yellow stools gather beneath green umbrellas, their empty seats turned toward the water. The signpost offers distant cities in every direction, but the horizon asks for no departure. Sunlight rests on the weathered railing, and a narrow line of palms separates blue water from blue sky.
