A Seat In Blue

About this piece

Two striped wooden chairs and a small white table stand against a white wall, beneath closed turquoise shutters and a decorative blue eye. Strong directional sunlight draws crisp shadows across the plaster and pavement, setting the warm wooden frames against a repeated rhythm of blue and white. The empty seats give this bright arrangement a quiet, expectant mood.

The story

Late July light falls across the striped canvas and warms the wooden arms of two empty chairs. Between them, a shallow ashtray rests on the round white table. The shutters remain closed, their turquoise panels bright within the shaded recess. A painted eye looks outward above the words “Sunset house,” while shadows stretch across the ground. For now, the seats hold only sunlight.
