Warm light catches the hulls and closely spaced masts of a marina beneath a rugged mountain ridge. Blue-gray water and peach-tinted sky frame the intricate rigging, while a single gull introduces an open, moving counterpoint to the densely moored boats.

The story

Late June light gathers along the masts, turning each slender pole into a line of gold. Below, small ripples break the boats’ reflections into wavering fragments. A gull crosses the clear space above the harbor, its underside briefly bright against the softer sky. Beyond the rigging, the mountains hold their folds of shadow as the light rests on the moored hulls.
