The story

On this late-July day, light finds a narrow opening in the leaves and gathers into a bright point. Palm fronds overlap above the sand, their green edges turning gold. Beside the turquoise building, boats rest ashore with their masts rising among the trunks. Beyond the shade, the sea holds a thin band of blue, and the beach opens quietly toward it.
