Where the Day Rests

About this piece
A sunlit wooden pier extends into calm blue water, its weathered pilings framing a yellow chair and a partially obscured pale chair at the far end. Red and white bands mark the nearest posts, while converging planks and repeated dark caps draw the eye toward the faint horizon. Bright light and an expansive sky give the orderly composition a feeling of unhurried openness.
The story
July light spreads across the boards, catching their grain and bleaching their edges. Between the posts, small ripples loosen the sky’s reflection into bands of blue. A yellow chair waits at the end of the pier, its curved back a small, bright answer to the wide horizon. The path stops here, leaving only water and room to linger.
