The story

January opens onto water stippled with gold. Wind fills the pale canvas, revealing seams and curved panels against the darker sky. Along the deck, small figures gather beneath the towering sails as the bow parts the surface. Low islands remain thin marks on the horizon, and the year feels wide and newly begun.
