A breaking wave rises in translucent turquoise above the pale sweep of sand, its crest dissolving into white spray. Dark rock anchors the left edge, while distant hills provide a muted backdrop to the water’s sharply rendered folds.
The story
I watched the water gather just beyond the sand, looking for the instant when its surface would reveal both weight and transparency. As the crest lifted, turquoise deepened beneath the white spray, and the rocks seemed briefly smaller beside it. I framed the quiet strip of beach against that rising motion. What held my attention was the narrow interval before collapse, when the wave still had a shape of its own.
