The story

Late June arrives in shades of turquoise and clouded blue. Beside the rocks, water gathers into small white crests, and a red hull carries its pale sail across the restless surface. The sailors lean close to their work beneath the tall mast. Farther out, other sails punctuate the foot of the hills, each a bright sliver beneath the immense span. The bridge holds its long line while the water keeps moving.
