About this piece

The story

I framed the boat to one side, leaving room for the light that seemed to fill everything around it. My eye kept returning to the mast: straight against the sky, wavering where it met the water. The hull carried dark traces of use, a small reminder of ordinary journeys within all that gold. I wanted to hold that contrast—the boat’s worn solidity and the delicate, shifting shape of its reflection.
