About this piece
A white lighthouse with a dark lantern rises above dune grasses, dense coastal vegetation, and a line of palms. Strong sunlight brightens the golden seed heads and tower, while the wide composition balances the textured foreground against an expansive blue sky. The lighthouse provides a still vertical anchor amid the grasses’ bending lines.
The story
Early May light catches the seed heads, turning the foreground into a loose weave of gold. Beyond them, palms gather beneath a low scattering of clouds. The white tower rises clear of the greenery, its lantern dark against the blue. The eye travels through the crowded grasses and comes to rest on that narrow, steady shape.
