Where Roots Hold

About this piece
A solitary mangrove rises from a low cluster of rocks, its arching roots exposed above the turquoise water. Bright sunlight defines the green canopy and rough shoreline textures, while the low horizon leaves generous space for blue sky and scattered clouds. The centered tree lends this open seascape a quiet sense of balance.
The story
On this March day, light gathers along the mangrove’s leaves and the wet edges of stone. Water folds around the outcrop, breaking the tree’s reflection into slender ribbons. Beneath the canopy, roots curve and cross, holding a small patch of solidity against the open sea. The eye follows them down to the water, then returns to the branches and their wide reach of sky.
