The story
November light opens a white passage across the water. The canoe crosses it, its paddlers briefly outlined against the glare. Raised blades and leaning bodies give the quiet scene a measured rhythm. Beyond them, two islands hold their dark shapes beneath the drifting clouds, while the sea breaks the sunlight into small, restless pieces.
