The story

Late July light settles brightly on the curved roofs and narrow stairs. Beneath a woven parasol, a suspended seat offers a small pocket of shade against the open blue. Flowers spill over terrace edges, their pink blossoms vivid against the white walls. Far out on the water, ships appear small beneath the rugged cliffs, and the eye leaves the stairways to rest on the sea.
